About the Scheme

The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the scheduled caste students studying at post matriculation or post secondary stage to enable them to complete their education(Government of India,n.d.).

Benefits Under the Scheme

The value of scholarship includes maintenance allowance, additional allowance for students with disabilities, reimbursement of compulsory non-refundable fees, study tour charges, thesis typing/printing charges, book allowance for students pursuing correspondence courses and book bank facility for specified courses for complete duration of the course(Government of India, n.d.)

Eligibility Criteria

These scholarships are available for studies in India only and are awarded by the government of state/union territory to which the applicant actually belongs, i.e.permanently settled (Government of India, n.d.). The scholarships are only for India nationals. the scholarship is for post matriculation and post secondary courses in recognised institutions except for courses like aircraft maintenance engineers courses and provate pilot license courses, courses at training ship Dufferin , courses of training at militatry college Dehradun and course at pre examination training centres of all India and state level. candidate has to belong to schedule caste in relation to state/union territory to which applicant belongs to permanently settled and who have passed the matriculation of higher secondary or any higher examination of a recognised university or board of secondary education will be eligible. "canditates who after passing one stage of education are studying in the sam estage of education in different subject....will not be eligible(Government of India, n.d.)" "(v) students who, after having completed their educational career in one professional line,...will not be eligible. from the academic year 1980-81 studies in two professional courses are allowed v) students studying in class xi of the higher secondary school courses of the xii class f the multipurpose high school will not be eligible ....in cases where tenth class examination of such courses is treated as equivilant to matriculation and students who after passing tenth clas join other courses such students will be treated as post matric students and will be eligible for the award of scholarships.....students puruing post graduate courses in medicine will be eligible if they are not allowed to practice during the period of their course viii) students who after failing or passing the under graduate /post graduate examinations in Art/Science/Commerce join any receognised professional or technical certificate /diploma/degree courses will be awarded scholarships if otherwise eiligible. no subsequent failure will be condoned except courses in Group I ix) employed students whose income combined with the incoem of their parents /garudians does not exceed the maximum prescribed income ceiling are made eligible to post matric scholarships to the extent of reimbursement of all compulsorily payable non-refundable fees xi) all children of the same parents/gaurdians will be entitled to receive benefits of the scheme...scholarship will be paid to the students whose parents/gaurdians incoem from all sources does not exceed Rs. 1,00,000 per annum (Government of India, n.d.) "canditates belonging to one state but studing in other state wil be awardede scholarships by the state to which they belong and will submit their applications to the competent authorities in that state. In the matter of exemption from feed or otehr concessions also they will be treated as if they were studying in their own state(Government of India.,n.d.)
