The objective of this scheme is to upgrade the technical and entrepreneurial skill of Backward Classes by way of providing training and financial assistance under Term Loan for self-employment in traditional craft etc. The loan under the scheme may be considered to the artisans and handicraft persons to secure their traditional art & craft and to provide training to upgrade their existing skills with latest technological inputs such as use of computers, CAD, design development etc(NBCFDC, n.d.)
The maximum loan limit is 10 lakh (NBCFDC,n.d.)
Members of Backward Classes, as notified by Central Government/State Governments from time to time. The annual income of the applicants family should be below double the poverty line i.e. Rs.1,20,000/- p.a. in urban areas and Rs.98, 000/- p.a. in rural areas(NBCFDC, n.d.). The NBCFDC contribution is 85% and 10% contribution of SCA and 5% contribution of beneficary. The rate of interest upto 5 lakh is 3% per annum(NBCFDC to SCA) and 6% per annum from SCA to beneficary. The rate of interest for amount above 5 lakh to 10 lakh is 5% per annum (NBCFDC to SCA) and 8% per annum (SCA to beneficary).
